Our prosthodontists are specialists with post-graduate training in the specialist field of prosthodontics. Our hygienist supports our prosthodontists with her expertise in maintenance and dental hygiene procedures.
John completed his schooling in Sydney and went on to study Dentistry at the University of Sydney, receiving his BDS with Honours in 2003. Following graduation, John spent two years in private practice in Parkes in country NSW, before returning to Sydney to undertake specialist training in Prosthodontics. His Master of Dental Science program involved undertaking research in the area of implant education for undergraduate dental students.
John is actively involved in teaching all areas of removable, fixed, and implant Prosthodontics. He is the current President of the Academy of Australian and New Zealand Prosthodontists (AANZP), and travels widely as a speaker and fellow for the International Team for Implantology (ITI). He also delivers lectures and hands-on training for various implant companies, and teaches on occasion at the University of Sydney and Charles Sturt University. His special clinical interests are in Removable Prosthodontics (dentures), implant reconstructions and gold restorations.
John enjoys reading across a wide variety of topics, and playing the guitar at his local church on Sundays. John’s family and two young children keep him far too busy, but he does manage to sneak in some serious fishing during holidays!
Dr Fiza Mughal originally qualified as a general dentist, and while working as a practitioner in Adelaide, she developed an interest in treating patients with complicated restorative needs and deteriorating dentitions. She undertook three years of specialized training to expand her knowledge and skill, and in 2019 she gained a doctorate in the speciality of Prosthodontics from The University of Adelaide. She has been a part of Canberra Prosthodontics since 2019.
Dr Mughal is interested in every facet of prosthodontics but is particularly intrigued by the challenges of restoring function and aesthetics in patients presenting with worn and missing teeth. She is passionate about her work and aims to deliver optimal care to her patients. She likes collaborating with her patients to provide the best dental care possible, tailored to meet their individual needs.
She has two young sons that keep her busy, so she enjoys spending time with them when she's not working!
Dr Jimmy Gim grew up in Newcastle, before completing his undergraduate degree at JCU in Cairns. He is familiar with Canberra and the region, having worked as a general dentist for a number of years on the South Coast prior to completing his specialist training at the University of Queensland.
He now calls Canberra home, with his wife Megan and their two young boys. They enjoy the many outdoor opportunities that Canberra has to offer.
Amy is our hygienist extraordinaire, who provides our patients with expert and individualised coaching on how to best maintain their teeth and prosthetic treatments. She has a wealth of expertise across all areas of hygiene, and as a long-standing member of the CBR Prosthodontics Team, is well-versed in looking after our patients.
Outside of work., Amy is a keen stand-up-paddleboarder and lover of her cat, and two adult children.
